oseph H. Levin, 93, former Detroiter of
Chestnut Hill, Mass., died July 14, 2009.
He attended Central High School and
Wayne State University. He received his Ph.D. in
mathematics from the University of Chicago.
A first lieutenant in the U.S. Army during
World War II, he was stationed at the Ballistics
Research Lab at Fort Belvoir, Va. Postwar, he
worked at the U.S. Bureau of Standards in
Washington, D.C., where, in 1951, he and a team
developed one of the nation's four earliest elec-
tronic computers, the SEAC-Standard Electronic
Automatic Computer.
He later was employed at Raytheon, Honeywell
Corp. in Boston. On paid loan from Honeywell,
he served for several years as the paid consultant
to the state of Massachusetts.

DOROTHY B. BRONSON, 92, of
Walled Lake, died July 19, 2009.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Dr. Richard and
C.J. Bronson of San Francisco,
Calif.; daughter, Andrea Bronson
of Walled Lake; grandchildren,
Jennifer Brooke Bronson, Scott

Bisel; former daughter-in-law, Jean (John) Bronson-

Mrs. Brosnon was the beloved wife of the late
Boris B. Bronson; sister of the late Rubin Berke, the
late Nathan Berke and the late Hyman Berke.
Interment at Beth Moses Cemetery in Roseville.

AARON FRIEDMAN, 82, of West Bloomfield, died
July 13, 2009.
He is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law,
David Friedman of Las Vegas, Nev., Barry and Teri

He was an active member of Common Cause,
which honored him for his work; and he was a
supporter of the Hadassah Medical Organization
of the Hadassah Hospital in Israel.
Mr. Levin is survived by his devoted wife of
62 years, Molly; children, Dr. Theodore Levin, Dr.
Andrew Levin and wife, Dr. Svetlana Nikitina,
Judge Charles Levin; grandchildren, Natalie Levin
and Ilya Levin; brother-in-law and sister, Bernard
and Judith Levin Cantor of Bloomfield Hills.
He was the son of the late Professor Samuel
and the late Lillian Keidan Levin; grandson of
the late Rabbi Yehudah Leib and the late Esther
Levin, the late Abba and the late Hannah Keidan;
brother and brother-in-law of the late Stanley
and the late Miriam Levin Friedman, the late Dr.
Herbert and the late Marjory Jackson Levin. ❑
