.
Three-dimensional artists from as far away as Japan show the products of their
talents — albeit temporarily — using the medium of ice for the 27th annual
Plymouth International Ice Sculpture Spectacular. More than 100 statues
can be seen in the heart of Plymouth with spectators invited to come early
and watch the carving techniques used by pros and students. The event, run-
ning Jan. 23-25, will feature projects made from single blocks of ice as well
as multiple blocks numbering five-100. Single blocks can weigh 330 pounds.
By going to the event's Web site, visitors can find walking maps of the display
area, based in Kellogg Park and downtown Plymouth. (734) 459-6969.

BROADINAY BUZZ
Audience members are asked to volunteer briefly in The 25th Annual Putnam
County Spelling Bee, the family musical comedy scheduled Friday-Saturday,
Jan. 30-31, at the Macomb Center for the Performing Arts, 44575 Garfield
Road, in Clinton Township. The Tony Award-winning production teaches,
with lots of comic moments, that winning isn't everything and losing doesn't
necessarily mean a person is an all-time loser. With music and lyrics by
William Finn, the show's book was written by Rachel Sheinkin. The curtain
goes up at 7 p.m. Friday and 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday. $25-$55. (586) 286-2222.
