GERALD WAYNE LAKSBERGER, 51,
of Alameda, Calif., died July 17, 2008.
He is survived by his mother, Sonia
Laksberger of West Bloomfield; broth-
er, Michael David Laksberger of West
Bloomfield; niece, Symone Laksberger.
Mr. Laksberger was the dear son of
the late George Laksberger; brother of
the late Raymond Miles Laksberger.
Interment at Adat Shalom Memorial
Park. Contributions may be made
to the Holocaust Memorial Center
in Farmington Hills or to a char-

82, of Farmington
Hills, died July 16,
2008. He was a State
Farm agent in the
Detroit area for 58
years.
He is survived

MARGARET HELEN LEVITT, 81, of
Bingham Farms, died July 19, 2008.
She was a graduate of University of
Michigan with a bachelor's degree and
a master's degree in library science.
An avid reader and lifelong learner,
Mrs. Levitt successfully volunteered
at the Birmingham, Bloomfield and
Southfield libraries; and after her
retirement, she did a variety of com-
munity volunteer work in addition
to designing a small boutique line of
clothing.
Mrs. Levitt is survived by her
husband of 55 years, Jack Levitt of
Bingham Farms; children, David Levitt
of San Jose, Richard Levitt of San Jose,
Mark and Candace Levitt of San Jose;
brothers and sister-in-law, Douglas
and Loma Turpin of Washington and
Rosemary Turpin.
She was the beloved sister of the late
William Turpin.

charity for eye research, Recordings for
the Blind, the Parkinsons Foundation
research or any breast cancer research

LILLIE MATONE, 89, of Southfield,
died July 20, 2008.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Larry and Debbie
Matone of Southfield; grandchildren,
Mark Matone, Michelle and Michael
Martin.
Mrs. Matone was the beloved wife
of the late Nat Matone; dear sister of
the late Ben Hendricks, the late May
Fenton.

ELY MEYERSON,
75, of Boca Raton,
Fla., died July 15,
2008.
He was born Feb.
23, 1933, in Newark,
N.J., the youngest
of two children of
Meyerson
Samuel and Dorothy
Meyerson. He was
raised in the Bronx, N.Y. He attended
the University of Michigan, earning his
bachelor's degree as well as a master's
degree in guidance and counseling.
Mr. Meyerson maintained a lifelong
devotion to the university.
He married Julie Sage in 1958, with
whom he shared 50 happy years of
matrimony. He was a veteran of U.S.
Army Intelligence, having served dur-
ing the Korean War.
Mr. Meyerson's career was dedicated
to university administration. He dis-
tinguished himself with many accom-
plishments at the State University of
New York, the University of Wisconsin,
the University of Nebraska and the
University of Hawaii. His most recent
position was as assistant provost at
Florida Atlantic University, where he
directed the Lifelong Learning Society
and guided the program to national
prominence.
He was admired as principled,
thoughtful, gregarious and kind. He
was a voracious reader with a deep
understanding of a wide variety of
subjects and was a prolific writer.
Mr. Meyerson enjoyed his hobbies
as an expert chef, a competitive swim-
mer and a world traveler and espe-
cially delighted in his role as a playful
grandfather. He had a profound love
for his family. He will be missed dearly
by his family as well as by his numer-
