secrets about working in the over-the-top fashion industry But her novel The
Devil Wears Prada, based on her experiences working at Vogue magazine as assis-
tant to the legendary Anna Wintour, became a best seller and the story became
a film, starring Meryl Steep and Anne Hathaway. "It all happened very quickly;
I had no idea what I was getting myself into," Weisberger, a newlywed, told
650 women May 6 at Congregation Shaarey Zedek in Southfield. She flew in
the day after her honeymoon to be the featured speaker at Lois Linden Nelson
Woman's World 2008, sponsored by the synagogue's Sisterhood. Fox-2 news
anchor Sherry Margolis led a discussion with Weisberger, who also took ques-
tions and signed copies of her new book, Chasing Harry Winston. The event,
including a luncheon, raffle and boutique shopping, raised money for synagogue
projects and outreach to women of all ages.
