include sculpture, painting, photog-
raphy and printmaking. The gallery
expects to juror more than 100 works
from artists and students all over the
Metro Detroit area.
Dan Keller, who currently teaches at
Wayne State University, the College for
Creative Studies, Macomb Community
College and the Birmingham
Bloomfield Art Center, is the juror for
this exhibit. Prizes will be awarded
at the exhibit's opening reception on
Friday, Feb. 8, at 7:30 p.m. The public is
invited to attend.

Have A Blast
Originally created as the backdrop for
Super Bowl XL, Winter Blast, Detroit's
celebration of winter experiences,
dining, music and family fun in down-
town Detroit's Campus Martius, will
be held this year 11 a.m.-midnight
Friday, 10 a.m.-midnight Saturday and
10 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 8-10.
For 2008, Winter Blast will have a
new, condensed layout and will bring
back all of its signature winter pro-
gramming — popular attractions

The giant snow slide at Winter Blast
like the snow slide, skating, sled dogs
and snowboarding — plus a bunch
of new activities that will happen
inside heated buildings and tents. They
include a film festival celebrating local
filmmakers as well as movies about
Michigan (selections include Encore
on Woodward, a documentary about
the restoration of the Fox Theatre
by local filmmaker Sue Marx) and a
two-day preview of Movement '08,
Detroit's electronic music festival that
will feature the city's emerging DJs and
producers.
Three live entertainment stages
will showcase music from more than
60 bands (including teen band Jam
Society 1:30 p.m. Saturday on the
Michigan Lottery Stage). Another
stage will host comedy, karaoke, magic,
clowns and puppetry. All Winter Blast
concerts are free.

ders because
McConaughey is
obsessed with
finding a sunken
treasure ship.

yacht owned by
a billionaire (Donald Sutherland).
However, McConaughey finds a
critical clue to the treasure's loca-
tion and persuades Sutherland to
let him use his yacht. Despite her-
