Rabbi David Golinkin, internationally respected scholar of
modern Jewish law and Israeli society, will look at the way in
which Halakha has viewed non-Jews and what implications this
has for contemporary interfaith relations.

Debbie Michelson went unde-
feated in Women's 4.5 Adult
USA League Tennis play this
season, including three victo-
ries at the national champi-
onships in Tucson, Ariz.
The Birmingham resident
swept her No. 2 singles oppo-
nents last month in Arizona,
giving her a 14-0 record in sin-
gles. Three wins came at No. 1
singles, 11 at No. 2 singles. She
also was 2-0 in doubles.
Michelson, 35, was a member
of a Beverly Hills Club-based
team that went 2-1 at the
nationals and 17-1 for the sea-
son. Beverly Hills lost to flight
champion San Diego 3-2, but
defeated Phoenix and
Pasadena, Texas, by the same
score in its three matches in
Arizona.
The team earned a spot in
the nationals by winning dis-
trict, state and sectional cham-
pionships.
Michelson beat Pamela
Seggerman of San Diego 6-3, 6-
4 and Diana Romero of
Phoenix 6-0, 6-0 in her first
two matches
in Arizona.
Then she ral-
lied for a 5-7,
6-4, 1-0 (10-
8) win over
Cori Mullins
of Pasadena.

star. She became Washington's
first women's tennis All-
American in 1992 and she was
inducted into the university's

job constraints forced
Michelson to give up tennis for
10 years. She resumed playing

the Schechter Institute of Jewish Studies in Jerusalem. He is the
long-time Chair of the Va'ad Halakhah (Law Committee) of the
Rabbinical Assembly which writes responsa and gives Halakhic
guidance to the Masorti (Conservative) Movement in Israel .
