Obituaries

Dear Mom,

Oh, how we miss you so, so much...
We miss your smile and gentle touch.
Each day goes by and we think of you...
We miss you Mom, our "bunny-foo".
Our memories are strong, they will never fade...
How much we love you, that will always stay.
We wish you were here and by our side...
We need you here to be our guide.
We cry for you, we cannot let you go...
You will always be in our thoughts and souls.

We can't believe it has been a year
Forever in our hearts we hold you dear
So much has happened we want to share
But we all know that you were there
You are missed much more than you could know
But of all the memories, we will never let go
Please keep watching over everything we do
And always know that our hearts and love are with you.

You are sadly missed and forever in our hearts.

avid M. Weine loved his alma
mater, the University of
Michigan.
He received three degrees from the
Ann Arbor school, served as an associ-
ate professor at its dental school for 40
years and was a 45-year season
ticket holder for football and
basketball.
He always sent souvenir Rose
Bowl T-shirts to relatives, said
his wife of 46 years, Esther. The
Wolverine tradition continued
through the family. Son
Kenneth said there were eight
U-M degrees among his father's
immediate family.
Although he worked four
days a week in private prac-
tice, Dr. Weine believed in
"giving back" to the profession
and spent one day weekly
instructing dental students in
the U-M dental clinic in Ann
Arbor.
As well as teaching dental stu-
dents, Dr. Weine was commit-
ted to the young. He was as
dedicated to the patients in his
Dr.
pediatric dental practice and he
was devoted to raising his own
three sons.
Dr. Weine, 71, of Farmington Hills,
died Sept. 13, 2005, of lung cancer.
Although his diagnosis had suggested
only a three-month life expectancy, he
maintained an active lifestyle for 2'/2
years — golfing, biking 10 miles a day
and traveling to Alaska. Speaking at the
funeral service, son Stevan said that,
during the illness, his father "did more
biking, treadmill and traveling than
most people do in a lifetime.
"Your determination to live well will
continue to inspire generations of fam-
ily and friends," he added. "Your sweet
soul will lift us up."
Dr. Weine was born and raised in
Detroit, graduating from Cooley High
School before attending U-M.
Kenneth said his father was "a pas-
sionate athlete and fan. As a teenager,
he played in an all-star game and hit
the outfield wall at Briggs Stadium. As
an adult, he was active himself as well
as teaching his sons skiing and sailing
and all the athletic stuff."
Dr. Weine and his wife were world

travelers whose journeys included
China, Russia, Eastern Europe and
Israel.
Professionally, he held leadership
roles with the Kenneth A. Easlick
Society of Pediatric Dentistry, Alpha
Omega dental fraternity and the
American Dental Association. He was
chairman of Sinai Hospital of Detroit's

David Weine

pediatric dentistry section.
He was in practice in Farmington
Hills with Dr. Arnold Golnick.
Dr. Weine is survived by his wife,
Esther of Farmington Hills; sons and
daughters-in-lave; Dr. Stevan Weine
and Laura Frankel of Evanston, Ill.,
Drs. Andrew and Pamela Orosan-
Weine of Ann Arbor, and Kenneth
Weine and Barbara Kancelbaum of
Brooklyn, N.Y.; brother and sister-in-
law, Harold and Patricia Weine of
Farmington Hills; grandchildren,
Daniella Weine, Kate Weine, Anna
Orosan-Weine, Gabriel Orosan-Weine,
Talia Weine and Jeremy Weine.
Dr. Weine was the son of the late
Albert and Kate Weine.
Interment was at Machpelah
Cemetery. Contributions may be made
to the University of Michigan
Comprehensive Cancer Center, 1500
East Medical Center Dr., Ann Arbor,
MI 48109-0759 or to a charity of one's
choice. Arrangements by Dorfman
