as a bat mitzvah at
Temple Kol Ami
Saturday, Sept. 3.
She is the grand-
daughter of Joel
Katz of Chestnut
Hill, Mass., the late
Joanne Katz, Louise Katz
Jones of Boynton
Beach, Fla., and the
late Frank Jones. She is the great-
granddaughter of Ruth Goldstein of
Brookline, Mass.
Emily is an honor student at West
Hills Middle School in Bloomfield
Hills. For mitzvah projects, Emily vol-
unteered at Kol Ami's hosting of the
South Oakland Shelter and is a
madricha (aide) in the religious school.
In addition, she has volunteered at Yad
Ezra in Berkley, at the Capuchin
Kitchen in Detroit and at the
Michigan Animal Rescue League.

Jessica Kavieff will read from the
Torah during Shabbat services at
Temple Shir Shalom to celebrate her
bat mitzvah Friday,
Sept. 2. She is the
beloved daughter of
Cindy and Reid
Kavieff and sister of
Alexandra and
Mara. She is the
granddaughter of
Sonja and
Montague Balbes
Kavieff
and Rosalind and

Shelden Kavieff.
Jesse attends Orchard Lake Middle
School in West Bloomfield, where she
is an honor student. Among her mitz-
vah projects were Relay for Life, Blight
Busters and TOPS Soccer. She will
make donations to Haven, the
Humane Society, TOPS Soccer and
the Sarah Fisher Home.

Rachael Jill Pleasant will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah Sunday,
Sept. 4, at Congregation B'nai
Moshe. She is the
loving daughter of
Tsila Pleasant and
William Pleasant
and sister of Erika
Randel. Sharing the
simchah will be
proud grandparents
Mania Vinik,
Dorothy Pleasant,
Pleasant
Lewis and Pat
Pleasant.
Rachael is an honor student at
Warner Middle School in Farmington
Hill. Her mitzvah projects included
volunteering at JVS Senior Service
Corps, donating 10 inches of her hair
to Locks of Love and giving backbacks
with school supplies to Jewish Family
Service for the needy.

Hannah Lauren Rothenberg will cele-
brate her bat mitzvah Saturday, Sept.
3, as she reads from the Torah at
Temple Israel. Her parents are Ruth
and Jon
Rothenberg and her
brother is Daniel.
She is the grand-
child of Israel
Hochberg and
Maureen
Rothenberg. She is
also the grandchild
of the late Diane
Rothenberg
Hochberg and the
late Manuel
Rothenberg.
Hannah attends Dunckel Middle
School in Farmington Hills. For her
mitzvah projects, she chose to volun-
teer at Shabbat picnics at Temple Israel
and to help at Yad Ezra in Berkley. She
also raised funds for the Autism
Society.

Rory Klein Siman will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
Sept. 3, at Temple Israel. Participating
in the ceremony will be his proud par-
ents, Dr. Robin Klein Siman and
Steven Siman, his grandmothers Rhea
Klein and Essie Siman, his aunt and
uncle Susan and Dr. Marc Abramson,
