State University. He graduated from
Wayne State medical school in 1939 at
the top of his class. He was a pediatri-
cian and taught at Wayne State
University medical school, serving as
professor and chairman for the
Department of Community and
Family Medicine.
After his wife, Irene, died, Dr. Meyer
moved to Ann Arbor, where he became
professor and program director,
Maternal and Child Health at the
University of Michigan School of Public
Health. In 1976, he married Betty
Michelson, who was also on the faculty.
They shared 30 years together, leaving
Michigan in the late 1970s to live in
Texas and then California. Dr. Meyer
continued supervising and training med-
ical residents until he was 85 years old.
He is survived by his children, Liz,
Michael (Julie), Esther Ullman
(Morley Witus), Ruth Michelson (Paul
Cockrell); grandchildren, Eli and Leah
Witus, Rachel and Josh Meyer, and
Lauren Cockrell and Daniel
Michelson. He was the brother of the
late George (Faye), Sue Harris
(Archie).
Contributions may be made to
Wayne State University medical school
or Friends of Israel's Environment
Adam(Teva V'Din). A memorial in his
honor will be held in June in Ann
Arbor.

IDA PARNES, 93, of Farmington
Hills, died April 22, 2005.
She is survived by her sons and
daughters-in-law, Dr. Milton and Ruth
Parnes of Cornwells Hts., Pa., Arthur
and Jean Parnes of Farmington Hills;
sisters and brothers-in-law, Edith and
Eli Greenblatt of West Bloomfield,
Anna and Seymour Schwartz of Oak
Park; grandchildren, Mikki (Michael)
Lewis, Dr. Aric Parnes, Jeremy Parnes,
Sheldon (Linda) Parnes, Aaron (Sylvia)
Parnes, Laura (Eric Heist) Parnes;
great-grandchildren, Katrielle,
Alexandra, Adam, Eliana, Isaac,
Kaidyn and Taylor. She was the
beloved wife of the late Leon Parnes.
Interment was held at Machpelah
Cemetery. Contributions may be
made to the Hospice Home of
Farmington Hills, 25911 Middlebelt
Road, Farmington Hills, MI 48336;
the American Cancer Society, 18505
W 12 Mile Road, Southfield, MI

GERTRUDE PELLER, 87, of
Coconut Creek, Fla., formerly of
Ypsilanti, died April 16, 2005. A
bookkeeper in Ypsilanti and Detroit
for jewelry stores, she was also a mem-
ber of Hadassah and ORT.
Mrs. Peller is survived by her hus-
band, Sydney Peller of Coconut

Creek; daughters and sons-in-law,
Charlene and Dr. David Kott of West
Bloomfield, Beverly Peller Henson and
Charles Henson of Atlanta, Ga.;
grandchildren, Dr, Ian Kott, Dr.
Jeremy Kott, Adam Kott; sister-in-law,
Beatrice Odenheimer; brother-in-law,
Leonard Peller. She was the beloved
grandmother of the late Jason Kott;
dear sister of the late Paul Steiner.
Interment at Clover Hill Park
Cemetery. Contributions may be

RUTH ROSEN-
BERG, of Orchard
Lake, died April 21,
2005. She was active
with City of Hope and
was a member of Adat Rosenberg
Shalom Synagogue.
Mrs. Rosenberg is
survived by her son, Leonard
Rosenberg of Orchard Lake; daughter
and son-in-law, Sharyl and Kenneth
Brandt of Farmington Hills; grand-
children, Amy Radam and Mark
Radom, Adam and Susie Rosenberg,
Darren Rosenberg and his fiancee,
Emily Cohen, Lindsey Gotdieb, Peter
Gotdieb, Jeremy Brandt; great-grand-
children, Josh Radom, Jake Radom.

She was the beloved wife for 63 years
of the late Lester Rosenberg.

DR. EVERETT NEWTON ROT-
TENBERG, 78, of West Bloomfield,
died April 23, 2005. He was a
rheumatologist who graduated from
the University of Michigan Medical
School in 1952 and completed his res-
idency and fellowship in rheumatology
at the Mayo Clinic. He was also the
first rheumatologist at Sinai Hospital,
was on the faculty of Wayne State
University School of Medicine, was a
past chairman of the Board of
Michigan Arthritis Foundation, one of
the founders of the Lupus Foundation
of Michigan, member of the board of
Autoimmune Disease Society and a
member of TeMple Israel.
Dr. Rottenberg is survived by his
wife, Beatrice Rottenberg; son and
daughter-in-law, Dr. Mark and Linda
Rottenberg of West Bloomfield; daugh-
ters and son-in-law, Lisa Friedman of
West Bloomfield, Joan and Robert
Lipsitz of Bloomfield Hills; grandchil-
