The Jewish Community
Council was founded in
1937 as the umbrella body
for Detroit's Jewish organiza-
tions. From its inception,
the Council has worked to
safeguard the Jewish com-
munity by advancing Jewish
interests, promoting Jewish
values, and advocating on
behalf of Jews at home and
around the world. Council
has been a strong and stead-
fast advocate on Israel's
behalf, promoting both pro-
Israel advocacy to more than
1000 Israel activists, and
Jewish student activism on
college campuses via pro-
gramming, speakers, and
leadership development.
Council gives voice to the
Jewish community's message
to the media locally and in
Lansing and Washington,
D.C.
