Emily Kessler Shaw (Esther) and
Jonathan Kessler Shaw (Tzvi) will
be called to the Torah as b'nai mitz-
vah at Temple Beth El on Saturday,
April 16. Joining
in the simchah
will be their par-
ents, Susan Kessler
and Bruce Shaw,
and their sister
Sarah. Emily and
Jonathan are the
arandchildren of

the late Dr.
Charles Kessler,
Burnice Shaw and
the late Marvin
Shaw.
Emily and
Jonathan are
honor students at
Norup Middle
School in Oak
Park. Their mitz-
vah projects included volunteering
at Yad Ezra in Berkley, raising funds
for the Leukemia and Lymphoma
Society's Team in Training program,
donating hair to Locks of Love and
participating in the Huntington
Woods LEAD program.

Derek Jacob Shillman, son of
Barbara and Jeffrey Shillman, will
read from the Torah as a bar mitz-
vah on Saturday, April 16, at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek
Southfield. Sharing in the simchah
will be his proud
grandparents Janet
and Ray Feldman,
great-uncle Rudy
Shillman and sib-
lings Randy
Shillman and
Tracey Shillman.
He is also the
grandson of the
late Esther and
Morris Shillman.
Derek is a seventh-grade honor
student at Cranbrook Kingswood
Middle School in Bloomfield Hills.
His mitzvah projects included vol-
unteering at Shaarey Zedek's Camp
Betman, working with young chil-
dren and bagging food for the
Jewish hungry at Yad Ezra in
Berkley.
