runs unopposed.

is the only member of
the 110-member
Michigan House of
Representatives running
without opposition on Nov.
2.
The Bloomfield Hills resi-
dent represents the 40th
District, which includes
Taub
Bloomfield and Southfield
townships; the cities of
Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills,
Keego Harbor, Orchard Lake Village
and Sylvan Lake; and the villages of
Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms and
Franklin. She has lived in the dis-
trict 31 years.
Taub is the first Jewish Republican
woman elected to state office in
Michigan. Though a freshman legis-
lator, she's vice chair of the
Republican caucus. She sees the
budget and K-12 education the top
two issues facing the state today.
Taub is chair of the General
Government Appropriations
Subcommittee and vice-chair of the
State Police-Military and Veteran
Affairs Appropriations
Subcommittee. She serves on the
Community Health Appropriations
Subcommittee and chairs the House
Select Committee for the Detroit
Water and Sewerage Department.
She's a member of the House
Republican Campaign Committee
and the House Republican Finance
Committee.

Bloomfield Township,
to issue liquor licenses
to vendors involved in the Ryder
Cup Matches, which were held in

• House Bill 5896-Lottery Gaming
Legislation. The bill would put time
limits on the Michigan Department
of Lottery to issue lottery licenses in
a timely manner and provide for
penalties for violations of the act.
The governor signed the bill on July
22.
The two-year term pays $79,650 a
year.
Taub and her husband, Steve, have
three children. She served as an
Oakland Country commissioner
from 1992-2002 before coming to
the House. She is a former teacher
and she managed husband's medical
practice for 30 years. ❑

Public Act 209 of 2003. It allows six
Oakland County communities to
form a special zone to enhance and
update the Orchard Lake Corridor.
