S Kelley Goodman Taub is the only member of the 110-member Michigan House of Representatives running without opposition on Nov. 2. The Bloomfield Hills resi- dent represents the 40th District, which includes Taub Bloomfield and Southfield townships; the cities of Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Keego Harbor, Orchard Lake Village and Sylvan Lake; and the villages of Beverly Hills, Bingham Farms and Franklin. She has lived in the dis- trict 31 years. Taub is the first Jewish Republican woman elected to state office in Michigan. Though a freshman legis- lator, she's vice chair of the Republican caucus. She sees the budget and K-12 education the top two issues facing the state today. Taub is chair of the General Government Appropriations Subcommittee and vice-chair of the State Police-Military and Veteran Affairs Appropriations Subcommittee. She serves on the Community Health Appropriations Subcommittee and chairs the House Select Committee for the Detroit Water and Sewerage Department. She's a member of the House Republican Campaign Committee and the House Republican Finance Committee. The governor signed the bill on July 22. The two-year term pays $79,650 a year. Taub and her husband, Steve, have three children.
