Q : In a disagreement with my daughter regard-

ing her getting a tattoo, I informed her that if she
were to get one, she could not be buried in a Jewish
cemetery. I don't know if it's accurate, but it's the
one argument she seemed genuinely concerned
about. I hope I told her the correct information.

A:

It is not correct. Having a tattoo, or even
having one removed, will not prevent someone
from being buried in a Jewish cemetery. However,
a'faitoO. is considered by Jewish Law to be a
- desecration to the body, whether living or dead.
So, too, is having one removed.
