Sanford Solender, Communal Leader New York/NY Jewish Week — Sanford Solender longtime Jewish community leader in New York City died Aug. 30, 2003, at age 89. Mr. Solender was part of a three- generation dynasty of communal leaders. His father directed a Jewish Community Center in Manhattan, and his son Stephen served as first president of the United Jewish Communities, 1999-2001.
