Bloomfield, formerly of Florida, died
Aug. 15, 2003. She was the owner of
Mrs. Miler's Delicatessen in Detroit and
a secretary for Wayne County.
She is survived by her daughters and

of Florida, Loretta and Jack Gold of
West Bloomfield; sons and daughters-
in-law, Stephen and Janet Miller of

West Bloomfield, died Aug. 13, 2003.
He is survived by his beloved wife,
Sophie Auslander; son and daughter-in-
law, Harvey J. and Marsha Auslander of

Auslander of Farmington Hills; sisters,
Rose Collis of Waterford, Jacqueline

(George) Tarnoff and Florence (Ray)

EVELYN AXELROD, 85, of Oak Park,
died Aug. 14, 2003.
She is survived by her cousin, Lillian

Gold; nephew, Chuck Zamek; other
nieces and nephews. She was the loving
daughter of the late Abraham Axelrod
and the late Hesha Axelrod; dear sister
of the late Hy Axelrod, the late Rubin
Axelrod, the late Louis Axelrod, the late
Rae Axelrod.

JOANN COLLINS, 58, former
Detroiter of Glendale, Ariz., died Aug.
1, 2003. She was a life member and
past president of the Frances Solovich
Chapter of B'nai B'rith in Detroit and
an officer of the Edith K. Baum
Chapter of B'nai B'rith in Phoenix,
Ariz. She was also an active member of
Temple Beth Israel in Scottsdale, Ariz.,
and a founder of the Adopt-a-Family
Fund of the synagogue.
Mrs. Collins is survived by her loving
husband of 38 years, Stephen Collins;
son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and
Katherine; granddaughter Meredyth of
San Francisco; daughter and son-in-law,
Michelle and Rob Markson of Phoenix;
mother, Dorothy Block of Livonia; sis-
ter, Nanci Burstein; niece Marci
Burstein, both of Oak Park. She was the
daughter of the late Jack Black.

ROBERT DEVRIES, 79, of Oak Park,
died Aug. 16, 2003. Born in Nordhorn,
Germany, he and his family were
interred in Westerbork Camp in
Holland; and his parents were killed in
Auschwitz. Following liberation, he

Detroit and was
promptly drafted by
the U.S. Army to
serve in Korea.
Mr. Devries subse-
quently worked for
28 years as a tool
design engineer at
General Motors. He
and his wife, Helen,
celebrated their 50th
wedding anniversary

in June.
He is survived by his wife, Helen
Devries; sons and daughter-in-law, Dr.
Jeffrey Devries of West Bloomfield, Dr.
Stephen and Pamela
Devries of Deerfield, Ill.;
grandchildren, Daniel,
David, Rachel, Joshua,
Andrew. He was the lov-
ing father-in-law of the
late Sheri Lynne Devries;
brother of the late Uri
deVries of Israel.

HARRIET GERSON, 76, of Redford,
died Aug. 7, 2003.
She is survived by her daughter and
son-in-law, Vicky and Curtis Dunstan
of Redford; daughter-in-law, Jodie
Gerson Kanagur of Walled Lake; grand-
children, Samantha and Slim Zayati,
April Dunstan, Todd Gerson, Derek
Gerson. She was the beloved wife of the
late Sam Gerson; loving mother of the
late Ronald Gerson and the late
Leonard Gerson.
Memorial services will be held 5 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 14 at the residence of
Jodie Kanagur, 1990 Bluestone Lane,
Walled Lake. This announcement was
placed at the request of the family by
the Ira Kaufman Chapel.

MARIE HAAS, 89, of North Miami
Beach, Fla., died Aug. 18, 2003. She
was a past president of the Infant
Service Group, member of Eastern Star
and a former member of Beth Aaron
Synagogue.
Mrs. Haas is survived by her daugh-
ter-in-law, Sonia Haas; grandchildren,
Heather Bittker, Shelley Ann Kim,
Dennis Haas; great-grandchildren,
Candace and Esther Bittker, Valerie
Kim; sisters and brother-in-law, Rose
Gurwin of Florida, Anne and Willis
Jarvis of Arkansas; brother, David
Hertzberg of Beverly Hills. She was the
beloved wife of the late Louis Haas.
