She was also an active member of Temple Beth Israel in Scottsdale, Ariz., and a founder of the Adopt-a-Family Fund of the synagogue. Born in Nordhorn, Germany, he and his family were interred in Westerbork Camp in Holland; and his parents were killed in Auschwitz. Following liberation, he Devries immigrated to Detroit and was promptly drafted by the U.S. Army to serve in Korea. Mr. Devries subse- quently worked for 28 years as a tool design engineer at General Motors. He and his wife, Helen, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in June. He is survived by his wife, Helen Devries; sons and daughter-in-law, Dr. Jeffrey Devries of West Bloomfield, Dr. Stephen and Pamela Devries of Deerfield, Ill.; grandchildren, Daniel, David, Rachel, Joshua, Andrew.
