BROOKDALE

THE HERITAGE

Exceptional Senior Living

member since the
first grade. Her
main hobbies and
talents include read-
ing, singing and
dance, which
includes tap, jazz,
ballet and pointe.
She was involved in
several mitzvah
projects. During her sixth-grade year,
she volunteered with children each
Friday after school. She is also volun-
teering as a madrach (teacher's helper)
each Sunday in the second-grade reli-
gious school class at Temple Kol Ami.
After Sept. 11, Sarah helped make 800
ribbons for her school, spoke in class-
rooms and collected money for the
Red Cross. In October, she assisted
with a Halloween party at a Detroit
orphanage.

Ashley Ilyse Kaploe will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Friday,
Feb. 22, at Temple Emanu-El. She is
the daughter of Linda and Mark
Kaploe and younger sister of Evan and
Brandon. Proud grandfathers are Ralph
Schwartz and Albert Kaploe. Ashley is
also the granddaughter of the late
Sarajane Schwartz and the late Sophie
Kaploe.
A seventh-grade
honor student at
Warner Middle
School in
Farmington Hills,
Ashley enjoys play-
ing the flute in the
school band as well
as singing in the
choir at school and
in Temple Emanu-
El's youth choir. Her other interests
include dancing, music, summers at
Tamarack Camps and spending time
with family and friends. Ashley had
several mitzvah projects, including
working at the Temple Emanu-El
library and babysitting for the High
Holidays. She also volunteered at
Gleaners Food Bank in Detroit, at
Forest Elementary School in
Farmington Hills and at a farm for
orphaned animals.
