HARRY "TANK' TANKSLEY, 82, of
Sterling Heights, died Oct. 4. He was a
carpenter and cabinet maker.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley
Tankslev; grandchildren, Amanda Swope,
Cory McEntee, Erin McEntee and Bobby
Hunt; brother, C.B. Tanksley of
Mississippi. Mr. Tanksley was the loving
father of the late Bonnie Jo Tanksley and
the late Susan McEntee.
Interment at Oakview Cemetery.

THEODORE STONE, 73, of San
Diego, formerly of Detroit, died Oct. 7.
He owned and operated Auto City
Chemical Company in Detroit and Ted
Stone Enterprises in San Diego. He was
also a Mason, founder of Oak Park Lodge
591, member of Black Mountain Lodge
in San Diego, a Shriner and a member of
the Lions Club in San Diego.
Mr. Stone is survived by his wife,
Ileane Stone; sons and daughters-in-law,
Dr. Paul and Gail Stone, Randy. and
Sheryl Stone, Dr. Howard and Holly
Stone; grandchildren, Michael, Mark,
Brian, Bradley, Alexander Stone; mother-
in-law, Edith Mosten; brothers and sisters-
in-law, Ralph and Rosalyn Stone, William
and Ceci Stone; sisters and brothers-in-
law, Ruth Hack, Ethel and Irving
Gordon, Rose and Dan Siegel; and broth-
er-in-law and sister-in-law, Dr. and Mrs.
Robert Share. He was the dear brother of
the late Dorothy Sklar, the late Sylvia
Ellman and the late Margaret Getz.
Interment at Machpelah Cemetery.

Yeshivah Dean,
Dies In Chicago

New York/JTA — Rabbi Ahron

Soloveichik, one of the world's fore-
most Talmudic scholars, died Oct.
5 at 84 in Chicago, where he was
dean of the Brisk Yeshiva. He will
be buried in Israel.
Soloveichik was part of a family
of distinguished rabbis stretching
back more than 200 years. He
taught Talmud and Jewish philoso-
phy for 59 years in the United
States.
Soloveichik, whose wife, Ella,
died two months ago, is survived
by six children, including four sons,
all of whom are rabbis, almost 40
grandchildren and three great-
grandchildren.

Widow Die

New York/JTA — Emilie
Schindler, who with her
industrialist husband, Oskar, helped
save hundreds of Jews from Nazi
death camps, died Oct. 5 near
Berlin at 93.

She often complained that the
Holocaust epic Schindler List over-
looked her role in helping save
Jews. "Oskar is the hero, but what
about me? I saved many Jews, too,"
she said in a 1999 interview.
