Yeshivah Dean, Dies In Chicago New York/JTA — Rabbi Ahron Soloveichik, one of the world's fore- most Talmudic scholars, died Oct. 5 at 84 in Chicago, where he was dean of the Brisk Yeshiva. He will be buried in Israel. Soloveichik was part of a family of distinguished rabbis stretching back more than 200 years. He taught Talmud and Jewish philoso- phy for 59 years in the United States. Soloveichik, whose wife, Ella, died two months ago, is survived by six children, including four sons, all of whom are rabbis, almost 40 grandchildren and three great- grandchildren. Schindlees ' s, 93 Widow Die New York/JTA — Emilie Schindler, who with her industrialist husband, Oskar, helped save hundreds of Jews from Nazi death camps, died Oct. 5 near Berlin at 93. She often complained that the Holocaust epic Schindler List over- looked her role in helping save Jews. "Oskar is the hero, but what about me? I saved many Jews, too," she said in a 1999 interview.
