RUTH REIFLER HAFFNER, 80, of
Troy, died Aug. 12. She was a retail
sales consultant.
She is survived by her daughter,
Marsha Brooks of Troy; sister and
brother-in-law, Roslyn and Morris
Fierberg. Mrs. Haffner was the
beloved wife of the late David
Haffner; loving mother of the late
Leslye Phillips.
Interment at Machpelah Cemetery.

West Bloomfield, died Aug. 13. He
was the president and CEO of Burns
and Wilcox,
insurance brokers
with offices
nationwide and
chairman of
H.W. Kaufman
Finance. Mr.
Kaufman was a
member of Adat
Shalom
Synagogue, an
honoree of Adat
Shalom at the
Herbert W Kaufman
Jewish Theological
Seminary dinner in June 2001 and
established the Kaufman Nursery
School Endowment Fund at Adat
Shalom. In addition, he was past con-
sul general of Panama, member of
Tam O'Shanter Country Club, mem-
ber of board of trustees Walsh. College,
and he established the Kaufman
Athletic Fund at Hillel Day School of
1\/fetropolitan Detroit in Farmington
Hills. He was also a 33rd degree
Mason.
Mr. Kaufman is survived by his
wife, Flora Kaufman; sons and daugh-
ters-in-law, Alan and Sue Kaufman of
loomfield Hills, Steven Kaufman of
oronto, Gary Schwartz, Robert and
pristine Schwartz; daughters and
on-in-law, Judie Kaufman of
untington Woods, Lynda and
Douglas Thal; grandchildren, Jodie,
mily and Danny Kaufman, Loren
nd Daniel Thal, Brittany, Eller) , and
aron Schwartz; brother, Ben
aufman of San Diego; brother-in-law
nd sister-in-law, Allen and Sylvia
Smaltz. He was the dear brother of the
late Harry Kaufman.

MARTIN LEVEY, 66, formerly of
Michigan of California, died Aug. 9.
He studied in Chicago for interior
decorating and then moved to New
York and later to California.
He is survived by his brothers and
sisters-in-law, Cal and Fran, Fred and
Lee of West Bloomfield; nephews,
nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces.

died Aug. 11.
He is survived by his sons and

Harry and Karen Pieczenik of Long

Pieczenik Siegel. Mr. Pieczenik was
the beloved husband of the late Pola.
