Solidarity Shabbat is June 15 & June 16.

iS

S

ince the founding of the
modem state of Israel in
1948, Detroit Jews have
never wavered in their support
for the Jewish homeland.

Through all the times of war and
crisis — we have been there.

Now it's time to come together
again in prayer at a special
Solidarity Shabbat. This will be
a time for congregations in our
community to ponder what Israel
means to us, and to humanity.
At this difficult time, rabbis will
offer special messages and prayers.
Community leaders recently in
Israel will share their experience.

Going to services on Solidarity
Shabbat is a way to show we are
standing strong with our fellow
Jews. Whether they live in our
Partnership 2000 region of the
Central Galilee, or anywhere else

in Israel, they are our friends and
family. Our mishpocha.

Israelis are feeling isolated and
abandoned by much of the world
right now. We in metro Detroit can
show our renewed support by:

•Traveling to Israel

•Advocating on behalf of Israel in
conversation and writing

X.

Whether or not you belong to a
synagogue or temple, make this
your weekend to visit one. All of
us together have the power to send
loving prayers for strength and
endurance to our brothers and
sisters in Israel.

They need us.

We need them.

• Contacting representatives
in Congress

• E-mailing and calling more
frequently to family and friends

•Challenging negative
comments about Israel

•Joining gatherings in support
of Israel

•Attending Solidarity Shabbat
services (call to find out when

your congregation is scheduled)
