Solidarity Shabbat is June 15 & June 16. iS S ince the founding of the modem state of Israel in 1948, Detroit Jews have never wavered in their support for the Jewish homeland. Through all the times of war and crisis — we have been there. Now it's time to come together again in prayer at a special Solidarity Shabbat. This will be a time for congregations in our community to ponder what Israel means to us, and to humanity. At this difficult time, rabbis will offer special messages and prayers. Community leaders recently in Israel will share their experience. Going to services on Solidarity Shabbat is a way to show we are standing strong with our fellow Jews. Israelis are feeling isolated and abandoned by much of the world right now. We in metro Detroit can show our renewed support by: •Traveling to Israel •Advocating on behalf of Israel in conversation and writing X. Whether or not you belong to a synagogue or temple, make this your weekend to visit one. All of us together have the power to send loving prayers for strength and endurance to our brothers and sisters in Israel. They need us.
