was a milkman in the Detroit area
for many years.
He is survived by his daughter,

Hills; sister, Betty Chernow of Oak

Robert Menken, Carley Berenstein,
Scott Berenstein, Jason Berenstein;
great-grandchildren, Dayna and

Berenstein. He was the beloved hus-
band of the late Belle Berenstein;

and Aubrey Berenstein; father-in-law

Stanley Burkoff

Highland Beach,
Fla., died May 10.
He was the retired
president of W.B.
Doner
Company, advertis-
ing agency.

During World War II, Mr. Burkoff
served in the Army Judge Advocate
General Corps. He earned bachelor
of arts and law degrees from
Northwestern University. Prior to
joining Doner as creative director in
1963, Mr. Burkoff held the position
of creative director at Young &
Rubicam Advertising in Toronto and
copy chief at Doyle Dane Bernback

Advertising in New York.
Mr. Burkoff was the author of
Short Tall Bridge Tales: Funny Stories
About Tricky Hands and numerous
essays and short stories. He earned
life master status in the American
Contract Bridge Association.
In addition to numerous civic and
charitable activities, Mr. Burkoff was
a charter member of the
Birmingham Temple, a former presi-
dent of the Franklin Hills Country
Club and former member of the
board of directors of the Henry Ford
and Sinai hospitals.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce
Switow Burkoff; children, John and
Nancy Burkoff of Pittsburgh,
Barbara Burkoff Dale of Baltimore,
Sara and David Burkoff Owens of
St. Louis; grandchildren, Amy and
Sean Burkoff Kelley of Chicago, 3
David Burkoff of Ann Arbor,
Andrew Dale of Farmington, Conn.,
Christopher Owens and Daniel
Owens of Minneapolis, Katherine
Owens and Elizabeth Owens of St.
Louis; great-granddaughter, Emma
Burkoff Kelley of Chicago; sister,
