" Professor and author Mary C. Boys, based in
New York City, is on the faculty of Union
Theological Seminary as the Skinner and
McAlpin Professor of Practical Theology. She is
also an adjunct faculty member of the Jewish
Theological Seminary and the Teachers College
at Columbia University.
Boys is a board member of the Tanenbaum
Center for Interreligious Understanding and
works as a consultant on teaching to Christian
and Jewish theological faculties.

the violin. As pan of her mitzvah pro-
jects, she found it particularly meaning-
ful to help when Temple Israel housed
the homeless.
Boris Milter will be called to the Torah
as a bar mitzvah at Congregation Beth
Shalom on Saturday, May 5. He is the
son of Alla and Yefim
Milter and the grand-
son of Isak and Riva
Milter, Khaya Slepoy
and the late Boris
Slepoy.
Boris is an honor
student at Norup
Middle School in
Oak Park. He plays
the saxophone in the Norup band and
the jazz band. He enjoys playing basket-
ball, tennis and doing origami. His most
significant interest is studying classical
works of Judaism.
Boris participated in many volunteer
activities, including visiting seniors at
Coville Apartments in Southfield, work-
ing at Yad Ezra in Oak Park and helping
host the homeless at Congregation Beth
Shalom.
Leah Beth Mutnick will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday,
May 5, at Temple Israel. She is the
daughter of
Catherine and Gary
Mutnick and sister of
Matthew. Happy
grandparents are
Violet and Stephen
Kocsis and Sally and
Erwin Mutnick.
An honor student
at Abbott Middle
School in West Bloomfield, Leah enjoys
dancing and playing the violin. Her
most meaningful mitzvah projects were
volunteering with senior citizens at
Fleischman Residence in West
Bloomfield and Elan Village in
Southfield; she also assisted in the
Temple Israel library and helped when
the temple housed the homeless.
Joshua Max Potter of Huntington
Woods will be called to the Torah as a
bar mitzvah on Saturday, May 5, at
Temple Emanu-El. He is the son of
Suzie and John Potter
and brother of
Benjamin. Proud
