Joey likes tennis, golf and skiing. His
mitzvah projects included delivering
food to the homeless and helping at
the Salvation Army.
Brain Gabriel Garfield of
Bloomfield Hills will celebrate his
bar mitzvah at Congregation Shir
Tikvah on Saturday,
April 28. He is the
son of Donald and
Eileen Garfield,
brother of Kevin
and Randi Garfield
and his proud
grandparents are Sol
and Sonia Garfield.
Brian is an honor
student at
Birmingham Covington School. His
interests include piano, saxophone,
soccer, reading and spending sum-
mers at Camp Tanuga.
His act of humanity project was
volunteering at Evergreen Health
and Living Center, where he visited
elderly residents. He led activities,
read with residents, played games
and brought in his dog Scout for pet
therapy.
Jonathan Aaron Fleischmann will
lead the Havdalah services at ais bar
mitzvah celebration
on Saturday, April
28, at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek.
Jonathan is the
son of Yosef and
Martha Jo
Fleischmann, the
brother of Michael,
Manuel and Naomi,
the grandson of Leah and Charles
Snider and Bella and the late Mickey
Fleischmann.
He is an eighth-grade honor stu-
dent at West Hills Middle School in
Bloomfiels Hills. Jonathan is a
Junior Master in bridge, and loves
math, science, history, writing, pub-
lic speaking, table tennis, swimming,
and cycling.
He looks forward to fulfilling the
mitzvah of community service as a
volunteer at Hadassah House this
summer.
Jessica Anne Kahan will be called to
the Torah as a bat mitzvah on Friday,
April 27, at Temple Shir Shalom. She
is the daughter of Jane and Sidney
Kahan and sister of Rachel. Proud
grandparents are Marilyn and Allen
Jawitz and Grace and William Kahan.
Jessica is a
straight-A student
at Warner Middle
School in
Farmington Hills
and plays clarinet
in the band. She
loves reading and
kayaking on Lake
Tepee at Camp Arowhon. Jessica's
mitzvah projects included delivering
food for Yad Ezra and volunteering
at Union Lake Pet Services and at
two local libraries.
Laura Brittany Leebove will be
called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah
at Temple Israel on
Saturday, April 28.
She is the daughter
of Barry Leebove
and the late Cindy
Fishman DeMaagd
and sister of Joey.
Excited grandpar-
ents are Bunny and
Mickey Fishman
and Janet Leebove-Lampear and
Harold Lampear.
An honor student at Warner
Middle School in Farmington Hills,
where she plays percussion in the
school band, Laura is interested in
music and photography. She found it
particularly meaningful to plant trees
in Israel through the Jewish National
Fund as part of her mitzvah projects.
Aaron Oleinick will celebrate his bar
mitzvah on Saturday, April 28, at
Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. He
is the son of Larry
and Susan Oleinick
and the brother of
David. Aaron is the
grandson of Milton
and Cruciel
Oleinick, Stuart and
Marlene Bass and
Elaine Bass. He is the great-grandson
of Sidney and Ann Cohen, Rhea Bass
and the late George Bass.
Aaron is a seventh-grade student
at Warner Middle School in
Farmington Hills. He enjoys playing
violin in the school orchestra, read-
ing, baseball, basketball, football and
music.
His mitzvah projects included vol-
unteering with the senior service
corps at Jewish Vocational Service;
volunteering in Ferndale's summer
reading program, where he helped
elementary students with their read-
ing; and working on projects through
Shaarey Zedek's religious school.
