Gabriel Schubiner celebrated his
bar mitzvah on
Saturday, April 21,
with the
Workmen's
Circle/Arbeter
Ring at the
Anderson Center
Theater, Henry
Ford Museum. He
is the son of
Valerie Overholt
and Howard Schubiner and brother
of Lindsay Schubiner. Proud grand-
parents are Vivian Lewis and
Lorraine and Elliot Schubiner.
A seventh-grader at Cranbrook
Kingswood Middle School in
Bloomfield Hills, Gabe enjoys read-
ing swimming, baseball and playing
bass guitar. His community service
included delivering Meals-on-
Wheels and reading and telling sto-
ries to local elementary school stu-
dents.
Blair Alisa Schwartz will celebrate
her bat mitzvah at Temple Israel on
Saturday, April 28.
She is the daughter
of Connie and Hal
Schwartz and older
sister to Lindsey
Anne. Sharing in
her joy are proud
grandparents Lois
and Fred Howard
and Gilbert
Schwartz. She is
also the grandchild of the late Ruth
Schwartz.
Blair is an honor student at . West
Hills Middle School in Bloomfield
Hills, where she is active in the stu-
dent council. She is also a member
of the diving, basketball, volleyball
and softball teams. Blair enjoys
dance, computers, travel and being
with her friends. Blair's mitzvah
projects included babysitting at
Temple Israel during services, vol-
unteering at My Sister's Place, a
domestic violence shelter, and help-
ing with an arts and crafts program
for seniors.
Joshua Baron Segel will celebrate
his bar mitzvah on Saturday, April
28, at Temple Beth
El. He is the son of
Cathy and Mark
Segel and big
brother of Rebecca.
He is the grandson
of Beverly and
Nathan Peterman,
Frank Segel and the
late Anne Segel.
Joshua is seventh-grade honor stu-
dent at West Hills Middle School in
Bloomfield Hills. He enjoys soccer,
tennis, basketball, Boy Scouts, the
computer and reading.
For his mitzvah project, Joshua
participated in the Jewish Chaplaincy
program, visiting a senior citizen in
an assisted living residence. He also
volunteered at Yad Ezra, Gleaners
Food Bank and the Coalition On
Temporary Shelter.
