NORMA GUYER SOBESKY, 55,
former Detroiter of Denver, died
Jan. 23. She received her bachelor's
degree from Wayne State
University and her master's degree
in special education from Eastern
Michigan University. She taught at
Children's Psychiatric Hospital in
Ann Arbor. In 1972, she and her
husband moved to Denver, where
she taught special education in the
Jefferson County schools. She was
the principal of the Day Treatment
Centers for Jefferson County
schools. Last year, Mrs. Sobesky
won the Kay Cessna Award as spe-
cial educator of the year.
She is survived by her husband,
Dr. William E. Sobesky of Denver;
son, Matthew Sobesky at the
University of Colorado at Boulder;
daughter, Mara Sobesky at Scripps
College in Clairmont, Calif.; sister,
Aida (Philip) Cutler; nieces, Susan
Allison of Oak Park, Lisa
(William) Givens of Royal Oak,
Wendy (Todd) Luczak of Oak
Park, Jennifer (Stephen) Rebori of
Oak Park; grandnieces, Jessica and
Jillian Allison, Morgan Rebori;
grandnephew, Cameron Givens.

ELIZABETH WALDMAN, 69, of
Tucson, Ariz., died Jan. 23. She
was an labor economist with the
U.S. government.
She is survived by her brother
and sister-in-law, Lester and
Shirley Waldman of West
Bloomfield; sister, Lois Waldman
of Tucson, Ariz.; sister-in-law,
Brenda Waldman. Ms. Waldman
was the dear sister of the late
Dadiel Waldman.
Interment at Machpelah
