Star during World War II; he was
stationed in the European Theatre.
He was a member of the American
Legion Post in Warren and a mem-
ber of the Wolverine Bike Club.
Dr. Shear is survived by his son,
Laurence Shear; grandchildren,
Jeffrey and Laurie Shear; brother,
Irwin Shear; sister and brother-in-
law, Harriet and Donald Freeman.
He was the beloved husband of the
late Rose Shear; loving father of the
late Ronald Shear; dear brother-in-
law of the late Edith Shear.
Interment at Machpelah
Cemetery. Contributions may be
directed to the American Heart
Association or the Asthma and
Allergy Foundation of American.
Arrangements by Ira Kaufman
Chapel.

MAX SIEGEL, 84, former
Detroiter of Boca Raton, Fla., died
Dec. 24.
He is survived by his beloved
wife of 61 years, Bertha Siegel; chil-
dren, Stuart (Helene) Siegel, Elaine
Siegel; grandchildren, Philip
(Debra) Siegel, Andrew Siegel; sis-
ter, Sadie Pomeranz. He was the
loving brother of the late Abe
Siegel, the late David Siegel, the
late Alex Siegel and the late Mary
Feldman.
Services in Boca Raton at Star of
David.

SYLVIA ZAKS, 81, of Oak Park,
died Dec. 17.
She is survived by her son and
daughter-in-law, Lawrence and
Karen Zaks of West Bloomfield;
daughter and son-in-law, Marilyn
and Steven West of Southfield;
brother and sister-in-law, Harry and
Lillian Radine of Southfield; grand-
children, Kenneth West, Hannah
West, Jeremy Zaks, Matthew Zaks.
Mrs. Zaks was the beloved wife of
the late Irving Zaks.

Victor Borge
Dead At 91

New York/JTA — Victor Borge, a
comedic pianist and Jewish refugee
from Hitler's Europe, died Dec. 23
at the age of 91.
Borge, who made a
career of falling off
piano stools and
getting tangled up
in sheet music, was
a stage and screen
idol in Denmark
before he left in
Victor Borge
1940.
