Healing Service
At Beth El

AIDS activist Mary Fisher speaks
at Temple Beth El's Service of
Healing 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1.
As part of World
AIDS day, the
program con-
nects two groups
with the congre-
gation, Michigan
Jewish AIDS
Coalition
(MJAC) of
Southfield, and
the Ellin and
Harold Lawson
Youth Institute.
Mary Fisher
This year, the
healing program,
held during Shabbat services, will
provide an opportunity for the con-
gregation and the community to
reach out to those living with
HIV/AIDS. It begins with the
lighting of yartzeit candles for those
who have died of AIDS, then for
those with AIDS and other terminal
illnesses, and the Shabbat candles.
A new healing service created by
members of MJAC and Beth El
Rabbi David Castiglione follows.
After the service, over 100 youth
of Temple Beth El will participate
in a weekend learning experience
about AIDS.
"If we give information to one
person," says Dr. Burton Fogelman,
chairman of the inclusively commit-
tee, "and save one life, we're
thrilled."

In the story "Surprise Supervisor"
(Nov. 24, page 15), it was implied
that West Bloomfield Trustee
Stuart Brickner and newly elected
Supervisor David Flaisher
approved the use of anti-Jeddy
Hood signs, which.they termed
negative campaigning. Brickner
says a homeowners' group con-
ceived and put up these signs.
