sored by the National Children's
Jewish Literacy Campaign.
The readers, who read six Jewish
books during the summer, are Ally

Alexandra Corrsin, Nicole Goodman,

annual meeting 7:30 p.m. Tuesday,
Sept. 26, at the Jewish Community
Center in West Bloomfield.

Elaine Pearlman has been named
president of the Michigan Jewish
Conference execu-
tive board.
The Michigan
Jewish Conference,
a program of the
Jewish Federation
of Metropolitan
Detroit, serves a
statewide network
of 14 Jewish com-

munities. The
Lansing-based
conference was formed to build and
maintain a Jewish communal pres-
ence in the state capital and to facili-
tate the political and community
relations needs of its members. It also
provides a forum for the statewide
Jewish communities to share ideas.
Pearlman is president of the
Greater Lansing Jewish Welfare
Federation and vice president of
Michigan State University Hillel. She
has served as an executive board
member of Congregation Shaarey
Zedek in Lansing, past president of
the Shaarey Zedek Sisterhood,
Lansing Chapter of Hadassah and the
Michigan State Medical Society
Lansing Alliance.

Righteous Gentile Talks
About Hiding Jews

Non-Jew Anneke Kooistra-Burke of
the Netherlands will share her
wartime experiences of hiding Jews
from the Nazis at the Mensa Public
Forum, Saturday, Sept. 16, at the
Southfield Civic Center Parks and
Recreation Building.
Doors will open at 7 p.m. for
socializing. Mrs. Kooistra-Burke will
speak at 8 p.m. An open question-
and-answer period will follow her
remarks. Admission is $3.
