STEVEN LENN BEKTASHI, 32, of
Flagstaff, Ariz., died June 15.
He is survived by his mother, Inez
Gordon of Flagstaff, father and step-
mother, Qazim R and Janet Bektashi of
New Haven, Mich.; grandmother, Zelda
Gordon; daughter, Shawna Lynne
Bektashi; brother, David Bektashi of
Flagstaff, stepbrother, Adam Milton; life
companion, Julie Ann Radke. He was
the beloved brother of the late Craig
Bekstashi.

HYMAN A. BLACKMAN, 84, of
Delray Beach, Fla., formerly of Detroit,
died June 13.
He is survived by his son and fiancee,

law, Phylis and Dwayne Kay of Lake
Worth, Fla.; brothers and sisters-in-law,

BESS L. FRIEDMAN, 86, former
Detroiter of Scottsdale, Ariz., died June
7. She was a member of Jewish Women
International and Har Zion
Congregation. Mrs. Friedman sold
World Book Encyclopedia and was dis-
trict manager for Field Enterprises. She
retired and moved to Arizona in 1981.
She is survived by her children,
Howard and Judi Friedman of
Scottsdale and Sandra Gottlieb of
Pigeon, Mich.; grandchildren, Michael
Gottlieb and Dena Gottlieb of Florida,
Michelle Gottlieb of New York City,
Leslee and Shane Kelly of Denver, Lory

VIOLA W. GOLDSMITH, 97, of
Rochester Hills, died June 13. Mrs.
Goldsmith was an insurance agent. She
was a 1924 Vassar Phi Beta Kappa grad-
uate, a case worker for the American
Red Cross during World War II, a past
president of Temple Hesed in Scranton,
Pa., a past president of the Pennsylvania
Federation of Sisterhoods, on the board
of the Jewish Welfare Federation
Community Medical Center and a past
president and board member of the
Visiting Nurses Association.
Mrs. Goldsmith is survived by her
daughters and sons-in-law, Cele and
Michael Lalli of Connecticut, Joan and
Robert Rosen of Bloomfield Hills;
grandchildren, Francesca and Michael
Morrissey, Erica and Hugh Sullivan,
Arthur and Jeanna Rosen, Lawrence and
Sharon Rosen, Kenneth Rosen, Ilise
Rosen, William and Toni Roan; great-
grandchildren, Michela, Isabelle
Morrissey, Stephen Morrissey, Daniel
Sullivan, Kyle and Dylan Rosen, Jared
and Emily Roan. She was the beloved
wife of the late Arthur Goldsmith.

BERT J. GOOEL, 95, of Detroit, died
May 20. Mr. Gooel founded the
Standard Detroit Paint Company and
was the owner for over 65 years. He was
a life member of Temple Beth El and its
men's club, an accomplished violinist, a
master bridge player, a 70-year member
of the Masons and a member of the
Moslem Shrine Club.
Mr. Gooel is survived by his wife of
69 years, Alma Marks Gooel; daughter-
in-law, Elaine Kaufman; grandchildren,
Lori and David Schlanger, Bruce and
Lisa Gooel, Rebecca and Rodney Carey,
great-grandchildren, Rachel, Mara and
Matthew Schlanger, Lauren, Stephanie,
Jenna and Michelle Gooel, Randi and
Alexis Carey. He was the loving father of
the late Richard Good.
Interment at Beth El Memorial Park.

of Munchler Kitchens in Beverly
Hills. He was also a past president
