that appeared on cereal boxes designed
by Norman Rockwell and others, a
film tided "Cereal Bowl of America,”
and many interactive displays showcase
everything you've always want to know
about cereal, including the story of the
very first flake ever created.
It was during the late 1800s when
Dr. John Harvey Kellogg, a health
nut, established the Battle Creek
Sanitarium to provide sound food
alternatives to his guests (at that time,
most of the world was breakfasting
on fat-laden foods). Kellogg's brother,
Will Keith Kellogg, worked on the
development of nutritious foods and
in 1894, he stumbled on a way to
create healthy flakes after he left grain
out over- night. It had settled and,
once he passed the grain through
rollers, it became flakes.
The boom began and from 1901
to 1904, some 40 cereal companies
opened in Battle Creek. However,
within a few years, only half of the
companies remained.
Today's home to our breakfast
buddy — Tony the Tiger — also has
its own version of "Honey I Shrunk
the Kids."
Visitors at Cereal City shrink to

"The Best to You," a multi-media
theater experience.
Have kids in tow? Don't want
another grain of information on how
cereal is made? Then head to the soft-
play space for children under 48-inches
tall. Small tykes can slide out of a
gigantic Froot Loops cereal box or

more, along with a selection of novelty
foods made from cereal. Had enough
