CURRIED CHEDDAR DATE
BITES
1/3 c. walnuts, chopped
2 T. vegetable oil
1 Granny Smith apple
1/3 c. pitted dates
2 c. grated extra-sharp cheddar
(about 8 oz.)
1/4 c. mayonnaise
2 T. chopped fresh flat-leafed
parsley leaves
2 T. fresh lemon juice
1 T. apricot preserves
3/4 t. curry powder
Three 5-inch pita loaves
En a small skillet, cook walnuts in oil

► ND ALMOND GRANOLA
c. old-fashioned oats
/4 c. whole almonds, halved
/2 c. sweetened flaked coconut
/2 c. raw cashews
/3 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1/2 t. ground allspice
t. ground cinnamon
/4 c. (1/2 stick) unsalted butter
T. honey
c. packed pitted dates, each cut
crosswise into thirds
reheat oven to 300. In a large bowl,
tix oats, almonds, coconut, cashews,
own sugar, allspice and cinnamon
1d set mixture aside.
In heavy small saucepan, melt but-
r with honey over low heat, pour
e butter/honey mixture over gra-
)la mixture and toss well. Spread
it mixture on cookie sheet. Bake 20
inutes, stirring occasionally.
Remove from oven and add the
