CONGRATS

to David Cane ...
on his 50th birth-
day ... celebrated at
Charley's Crab in
Troy ... to Esther
Tschirhart ... on her
50th birthday.
THE HOPES OF a lot of people
has been fulfilled ... with opening, in
the northwest area, by the original Moti
Mahal Indian restaurant that had been
on Main and Fourth in Royal Oak
since 1952 ... Owners Abdul Noor and
Saiful Khan call it Classic Moti Mahal
... Their tandoori and vegetable dishes
were brought to the Oak Park sector
about seven weeks ago ... on Greenfield,
between 10 and 10 1/2 Mile.
IT'S BEEN NOTED for years as
having among the best barbecued ribs
and broasted and barbecued chicken
around, but Brass Pointe, on Orchard
Lake Road, north of 10 Mile in
Farmington Hills, has also been some-
what of a "sleeper" to many who don't
know that it has other food, too.
The ribs and chicken are Brass
Pointe main fares ... but it also has 10
Mexican favorites (enchiladas, tacos,
botanas, wet and regular burritos,
nachos, tostadas, combination plate,
taco salad, stuffed jalapenos) ... along
with 15 sandwiches ... and even three-
egg omelettes.
OPENING OF ITS 20th location is
the continuation of a great name ... by
brothers Van, Bill and Tim Keros
who opened the Kerby's Koney Island
chain about 30 years ago at the then
new Tel-12 Mall on Telegraph ... It
was with their brother, Gus, who
passed on in an auto accident around
Gus' sons, Terry, George and Alex,
have taken their dad's place. The new
site on Orchard Lake Road, between
12 and 13 Mile Roads, is in the former
Ram's Horn Farmington Hills locale ...
with seating now for 180 in a newly-
decorated and renovated atmosphere.
When the fellows first opened at
Tel-12, the name was Kerb's for Keros
brothers ... They added the "y" to
make it sound better.
George Keros, owner of Lafayette
Coney Island ... and Chuck Keros,
who has American Coney Island next
door on Lafayette in downtown
Detroit ... are cousins whose fathers
were brothers of Van, Bill, Tim and
Gus' dad.
MAIL DEPT. ... "Mort and I went
to the Healthy Harvest restaurant for
dinner and had the mushroom cutlets.
They were very tasty and a real stick-
