MARVIN SELIN, 73, of Ann Arbor,
died Nov. 6. After Army service in
World War II, he graduated from the
University of Michigan where he met
and married Harriet Chudacoff. He
owned a furniture business in the
Upper Peninsula until 1964, when he
returned to the University of
Michigan for his MBA and began his
second career with the U-M School of
Public Health. He retired as assistant
dean in 1994.
He was an avid outdoorsman and
sportsman who loved to ski, backpack,
flyfish and play golf and tennis.
He is survived by his wife of 49
years, Harriet Selin; daughters and
sons-in-law, Cindy and Louis Russo of
Massachusetts, Roberta Schaefer of
Virginia and Janet and Eric Dilz of
Colorado; grandchildren, Sarah and
Daniel Russo, Gregory and Laurel
Schaefer, Marc and Kelsey Dilz,
Matthew and Elana Russo; sister and
brother-in-law, Deborah and Ron
Freedman of Ann Arbor; brother and
sister-in-law, David and Bea Selin of
Florida.
He was the loving son of the late
Joseph and Celia Selin; the dear
brother of the late Leslie Selin, the late
Libby Silverman and the late Shirley
Ward.
Interment at Arborcrest Cemetery.

Dr. Zonder was born and raised in
Detroit. He was a graduate of City
College, a 1937 graduate of the
University of Detroit Dental School
and practiced in Detroit until 1971,
in Southfield from 1971-1979 and
Farmington Hills from 1979 until his
retirement.
He was a member of the Alpha
Omega Dental Society and in 1987
was honored by the University of
Detroit Dental School for his 50 years
of service.
He is survived by his sons and
daughters-in-law, Dr. Michael and
Barbara Zonder of Farmington Hills,
Dr. Eric and Denise Zonder of
Farmington Hills, Stuart and Janna
Zonder of Atlanta; brother and sister-
in-law, Arthur and Arlene Zonder of
Las Vegas; sister and brother-in-law,
Edith and Irving Averbuch of West
Bloomfield; grandchildren, Dr. Jeffrey
and Amy Zonder, Erica Zonder,
Jessica Zonder, Sara Zonder; great-
granddaughter, Emily Zonder; broth-
er-in-law, Sam Silverman.
Dr. Zonder was the beloved hus-
band of the late Seyma Zonder; loving
brother of the late Esther Silverman.

DR. JACK ZONDER, 83, of West
Bloomfield Township, died Nov. 4.
Dr. Zonder was a practicing Detroit
area dentist for more than 50 years
before his retirement in 1989.
