Book Fair Chairs

The Jewish Community Chaplaincy
program, which provides religious,
cultural and spiritual support to the
Jewish residents of care facilities,
will present a series of four training
sessions for volunteers or those
wanting to volunteer to help with
older adults in care facilities.
The first session, "A Profile of the
Care Facility Resident," is 7-9 p.m.
Thursday, Oct. 28, at Fleischman
Residence, 6710 W. Maple, West
Bloomfield. Treatment and symp-
toms of physical and mental condi-
tions common to older adults will be
discussed. Speakers will include
Tonya Herschfus, director of
Resident Health Services for
Fleischman Residence; Mark
Millman, pharmacist for Henry Ford
Hospital; Dr. Charles Silow, clinical
psychologist; and Nicole Messina,
recreational therapist for Brown
Adult Day Care Program of Jewish
Vocational Service. The session is
free of charge.

Sylvia Gotlib and Carrie Kushner,
chairs of the Jewish Community
Center of Metropolitan Detroit's
48th annual Jewish Book Fair, will
be interviewed on Time Warner
cable network 8:30 p.m. Monday,
Oct. 25; 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct.
27; and 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 3.
Gotlib and Kushner will appear
on the Community Comments show
hosted by Al Rosen on Time Warner
Channel 12.
The Jewish Book Fair will be held
Nov. 6-14 at both Jewish
Community Center buildings.
A local author mini-fair will take
place 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov.
7, in the Janice Charach Epstein
Museum/Gallery of the JCC's Kahn
Building in West Bloomfield.
The book fair will feature activi-
ties for children, men and women,
an Israeli interest day, family con-
certs and a cooking demonstration.
Admission to the book fair is free
and open to the public. For infor-
