Bar/Bat Mitzvah

She is also the granddaughter of the
late Jack Israel.
Elana attends Warner Middle
School in Farmington Hills, where
she plays flute in the school band.
Her other interests are diving, danc-
ing, swimming and track and field.
Elana's mitzvah projects included
volunteering at Yad Ezra and donat-
ing stuffed animals to a youth
home.

Bradley Joshua Lutz will be
called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah
on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Temple
Israel. He is the
son of Jill and
Dr. Michael Lutz
and brother of
Jeffrey and
David. Proud
grandparents are
Marilyn
Cherney,
Annette Lutz
and Dr. Sherwin
Lutz. He is also
the grandchild of the late Fred
Cherney.
His favorite mitzvah project
involved tutoring younger children
in math and science. A student at

vah on Oct. 9 at Temple Kol Ami.

eighth-grade

assisting his grandmother to serve
Meals on Wheels, serving food at
the Capuchin Soup Kitchen in
Detroit, working at Temple Kol
Ami's SOS Shelter program and
being a counselor in training at the
Huck Finn Day Camp.

Marci Lauren Schwartz will cele-
brate her bat mitzvah on Saturday,
Oct. 9, at Congregation Shaarey
Zedek: Marci is
the daughter of
Barb and Steve
Schwartz and the
sister of Brad.
Proud grand-
parents are
Dorothy Herzoff,
Ruth Schwartz
and Gilbert
Schwartz. She is
also the granddaughter of the late
Stan Herzoff.
Marci is an honor student at
Abbot Middle School in West
Bloomfield. She enjoys music, danc-
ing, performing arts, basketball, soc-
cer and in-line skating. As part of
her mitzvah project, she enjoyed
assisting the counselors at Beth
Hayeled camp this summer.
