10th & 11th Grade Students

SPEND A SEMESTER IN ISRAEL WITH PROJECT DISCOVERY
•Spring Semester 2000
•Fully accredited by American High Schools

John is an honor student at
Norup Middle School in Oak Park
and enjoys playing the clarinet and
bass clarinet in the school band. He
also enjoys playing the piano, paint-
ing, history and soccer.
For John's mitzvah project, he
helped in caring for World War II,
Korean and Vietnam war veterans at
the veterans' hospitals and nursing
homes in Ann Arbor and Detroit
with the Jewish War Veterans and
the Livonia Churchill High School
ROTC.

Andrew David Smith will cele-
brate his bar mitzvah on Saturday,
Oct. 9, at Temple Israel. He is the
son of Eleanore and Ronald Smith
and brother of
Kevin. Proud
grandparents are
Eileen and
Harold Smith.
He is also the
grandchild of the
late Marion and
Maurice
Fiekowsky.
Mitzvah pro-
jects included visiting residents at
Fleischman Residence and volun-
teering at the Temple Israel picnic.
Attending Abbott Middle School in
West Bloomfield, where he plays the
trombone in the school concert
band, Andrew enjoys playing the
electric guitar, listening to music
and playing basketball as well as col-
lecting sports cards and other sports-
related memorabilia.

Seth Loren Stern will be called to
the Torah as a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, Oct. 9, at Adat Shalom
Synagogue. He is the son of Jill and
Marshall Stern
and brother of
Eddie and Scott.
He is the grand-
son of Robert
and Roslyn
August and
Julius and the
late Sylvia Stern.
He is the great-
grandson of the
late Sara
Hoffman.
Seth is an honor student at Sarah
Banks Middle School in Wixom. He
enjoys baseball, golf and basketball.
His most meaningful mitzvah pro-
ject was volunteering at the Crohn's
and Colitis Foundation.
