adult education program this
month. Beginning Hebrew will be

no Hebrew reading knowledge. By
the end of the semester, students

A Kabbala class will be offered on
Thursday evenings Oct. 7-Nov. 11
at 8 p.m. Students will examine the
creation stories and the soul from a
mystical perspective.
"Prophecy, the Millennium and
Jewish-Christian Relations" will be
offered on Thursday evenings Dec.
2, 9, 16. Students will look at how
some Christians interpret biblical
prophecy to teach the imminent
return of Jesus and cataclysmic
events on earth.
There is a fee for some courses
and pre-registration is required for
all courses. For information, call
Temple Kol Ami, (248) 661-0040.

Rachel Yoskowitz, director of the
Immigration and Citizenship Service
of the Jewish Family Service, was
called upon to give testimony before
the Senate subcommittee on immi-
gration's hearing on INS reform on
Sept. 23 in Washington, D.C.
Chaired by Senator Spencer
Abraham, the subcommittee asked
Yoskowitz, of Southfield, to present
the experiences that the immigrants
who are aided by her agency
encounter in dealings with the INS.
Yoskowitz was recommended to
Senator Abraham's office by the
Detroit Coalition for Responsible
Immigration Policy, where she repre-
sents Jewish Family Service.
Founded and administered by the
Jewish Community Council, the
coalition works in collaboration with
communal organizations to create a
communal atmosphere that values
and welcomes new immigrants.
Yoskowitz is also a member of the
Michigan Committee on Refugee
Resettlement and the Michigan
Coalition for Immigration and
Refugee Protection.
