David Broner
is president of
Broner Inc., a
Alfred and Bernice family-owned
business in
Deutsch
Auburn Hills that
distributes industrial gloves and safety
products; hats, caps, gloves and acces-
sories for retail businesses; and embroi-
dered clothing and headgear for business
and industry.
The Shaarey Zedek board member is
a former board member of Hebrew Free
Loan Association and the University
Camp for Children. He studied last year
at the weeklong Wagner Institute at
JTS.
Lily Broner is an economics professor
on Oakland Community College's
Waterford campus.
The Broners' children and spouses
are Robert and Kim Broner, James and
Mimi Broner and Stephanie Broner.
They have four grandchildren.
For the past two years, the Broners
have been Shaarey Zedek's JTS chairper-
sons. This year's chairs are James and
Sally Hooberman and Paul and Carol
Hooberman.
The Deutsches are long-time mem-
bers of B'nai Moshe; he was president
from 1953 to 1955. The sanctuary is
named the Deutsch Rosenberg sanctu-
ary
Now retired, Alfred Deutsch was
chairman of the American Federal
Savings and Loan Association and the
United Savings Bank and Citizen
Mortgage. He was vice chairman of the
Federal Home Loan Bank of
Indianapolis in 1965.
His affiliations include board chair-
man of Sinai Hospital (1979-1981),
United Jewish Charities (1971-1974),
the Allied Jewish Campaign (1967-
1968) and the Michigan Council of
Economic Education. He served on the
boards of the United Hebrew Schools,

Bernice Deutsch is active with
Hadassah, Women's American ORT and
the Women's Division of the Allied
Campaign.

The Deutsches' children and spouses
are Robert and Carol Deutsch, Dennis
Deutsch and Morris and Nancy
Deutsch. They have four grandchildren.
B'nai Moshe's JTS chairpersons are
Dennis Deutsch and Lori and Maurice
Pogoda.
The Jewish Theological Seminary is
the spiritual and academic center of
Conservative Judaism. JTS' annual gala
dinner is May 10.
JTS will hold a patron gathering at
the Detroit Institute of Arts Tuesday,
April 13, as part of the JTS celebration
exhibit, "Treasures of Jewish Cultural
Heritage From the Library of the Jewish
Theological Seminary" More than 100
manuscripts, many never before shown
outside the library, are on display.

Chancellor To Visit

Chancellor Ismar Schorsch will be guest
speaker at the Detroit Friends of the
Jewish Theological Seminary's patron
reception at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
Patron chairpersons for the Tuesday,
April 13, event are Jenny Dorfman,
Bluma Schechter and David Schostak.
