Division for
her dedica-
tion and sup-
port of the
Jewish com-
munity and
the State of
Vivian Berry
Israel. She
will be hon-
ored at a
Diamond Trustee/Prime Ministers
Club cocktail reception 7:30 p.m.
Thursday, April 15, at the home of
Dorothy and Bud Gerson.
The event, chaired by Barbara
Nusbaum, will include 1999 pur-
chasers of $10,000 or more in State
of Israel Bonds. Guest speaker will
be Ambassador Naphtali Lau-Lavie,
an author and journalist.
Vivian and her late husband,
Louis Berry, were actively involved
in the Israel Bonds campaign from
its inception. She served on the
Women's Division Board and earned
the Woman of Valor Award. In
recognition of her contributions to
Jewish life, she received the Jewish
Theological Seminary's Eternal
Light Award and the JTS Solomon
Schecter Award.
She has held many positions at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek,
including president of the sister-
hood, and she has been chairwoman
of the Michigan District Women's
League for Conservative Judaism.
Vivian Berry, a former Hadassah
board member, has served as vice
president of both the American
Jewish Congress and Women's
Division of the Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit. She currently
serves on the national advisory
board of the Weizmann Institute.
