JNF Award
Honors John Lore

John S. Lore, president and CEO of the
Sisters of St. Joseph Health System, will
receive the Jewish National Fund Tree of
Life Award at a dinner Wednesday, April
28, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek.
JNF's highest
humanitarian
honor recognizes
the recipient's out-
standing commu-
nity involvement,
dedication to the
cause of American-
Israeli friendship
and devotion to
peace and the secu-
John Lore
rity of human life.
The Tree of life symbolizes JNF's
efforts to reclaim, develop and maintain
Israel's land. Chairing this year's event is
Anthony Tersigni, St. John Health
System president and CEO.
In 1986, Lore was named senior
vice president of St. John Health
System, the largest of the four region-
al systems of the Sisters of St. Joseph
Health System. He has held his posi-
tion with the parent corporation since
1993. The Sisters of St. Joseph Health
System has 25,000 employees who
deliver medical care through acute
care hospitals, urban territory medical
centers, rural community hospitals,
long-term care centers and other com-
munity-based health care facilities.
Tickets for the dinner are $250 per
person; ads are being sold for the corn-
memorative journal. Special Water is Life
certificates can be purchased for $50.
All proceeds from the dinner will go
toward vital water projects in Israel, such
as building reservoirs to capture rainwa-
ter and provide Israel with drinking
water, rehabilitating rivers and streams,
and programs for recycling water for
agricultural use.
The Jewish National Fund is the
American fund-raising arm of Keren
Kayemeth Lelsrael, the official land
agency in Israel. KKL oversees reclama-
tion of land for planting and forestry,
environmental concerns, water conserva-
tion, recreation and agriculture, employ-
ment of new immigrants, tourism, and
research and development.
Past Tree of Life Award recipients
include Governors John Engler and
James Blanchard, Mayor Dennis Archer,
Judge Trudy Duncombe Archer, Elie
Wiesel and Vice President Al Gore.

ute dinner, call Priscilla Smith, (248)
