-Summer Camp Fair Is Sunday
If you're looking for just the right
summer program for your child, check
out the Michigan Camp Fair on
Sunday, Feb. 28.
The 10th annual "Super Summer
for Kids: A Camp and Activities Fair"
will run from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at
the Birmingham Public Schools
Conference and Training Center,
31290 Evergreen, at 13 Mile, adjacent
to Groves High School, in Beverly
Hills.
The free fair will showcase more
than 80 local, national and Canadian
programs. Parents and children will
have the opportunity to meet with
representatives from each program to
\—D ask questions and receive information.
Participating programs include day
camps, academic enrichment pro-
grams and traditional residential
camps, featuring sports, biking trips,
horseback riding, wilderness adven-
tures, teen programs, music, art and
drama, academic enrichment and
tutoring. Camps for children with spe-
cial needs are represented as well.
The fair also offers students and
adults summer employment opportu-
nities.
Attendees will receive a free refer-
ence directory with information about
all the camps represented and how to
choose an appropriate camp for your
child.

hosting the fair. Co-sponsors are the

Metro Parent Magazine.

Eric Norber of West Bloomfield was
recently hired by Comair Airlines-the
Delta Connection.
Norber is a com-
mercial airline pilot,
sea-plane pilot and
certified flight
instructor. He was
recently the recipi-
ent of several
Federal Aviation

safety awards and
has received industry recognition for
developing pilot safety training pro-
grams. Norber will be employed as an
instructor at the airline's primary
training center in Orlando, Fla.
Marc M. Solomon
of Farmington
Hills, a freshman

and Sciences at
Northwestern
University, has
been named to the
dean's list for the
Marc Solomon
fall quarter of the 1998-99 acade-
mic year.
Elyse Gildenberg, an eighth grade
honor student at Orchard Lake
Middle School in
West Bloomfield,
was named a first-
place winner of
the 1998-99
America & Me
Essay Contest and
will now represent
her school in the
state competition. Elyse
Gildenberg
Elyse's essay, "My
American Hero,"
was about her
uncle Ernie Backalar and his 26
years of work for the Muscular
Dystrophy Association.
Shlomo Sperka of Oak Park has
been appointed interim director
of the Master of Arts in Industrial
Relations program in Wayne State
University's College of Urban,
Labor and Metropolitan Affairs. A
lawyer, labor arbitrator and for-
mer director of the Michigan
Bureau of Employment Relations,
Sperka has taught classes in law
and industrial relations at Wayne
State as an adjunct professor.
