The Jimmy Prentis Morris Jewish
Community Center will host the movie
Greenfields at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1,
and 12:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 2. It
is based on Peretz Hirschbein's legendary
tale of a young Chasidic scholar who
leaves his studies to search the country-
side for common people and a meaning-
ful existence close to the land. There is
no charge.
The Yiddish Culture Club will
meet 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, facili-
tated by Chaim Rosenthal. There is no
charge.
DMC/Sinai Hospital's annual Health
Fair will be 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Monday,
Nov. 16, at the JPM Jewish Community
Center in Oak Park. The following ser-
vices will be provided free of charge:
vision test, glaucoma test, hearing test,
blood pressure check, body fat analysis,
nutritional services, information about
diabetes, cancer and heart disease.
Cholesterol testing will be available for
$5.
The Bel Canto Choral Society's
Concert, sponsored by the Boaz Siegel
Cultural Fund, will be 1 p.m. Thursday,
Nov. 19. Tickets are $2.25 for lunch,
which will be served at noon, and must
be purchased at the JPM front desk by
Nov. 13. Tickets are not needed for the
concert, which is free of charge.
Local entertainers perform at 1 p.m.
every Wednesday for the weekly after-
noon social. Broadway tunes and
Yiddish melodies are presented.

Refreshments are served. There is a
charge.
A weekly erev Shabbat program with
Cantor David Gutman takes place on
Fridays at 12:45 p.m.

Drama, Trips

The Jewish Community Center, with
Marilyn Wolfe, will sponsor trips to per-
formances of Jolson The Musical 8 p.m.
Wednesday, Nov. 18, at Detroit's Fisher

Vacation trips are being planned:
Miami Beach in January 1999 for two
or three weeks at either the Saxony of
the Ramada; Scottsdale-Southwestern
Whirl starting Feb. 2 or 9th for two or
three weeks at the Holiday Inn Old -
Town; Arizona and California from Feb.
9-25; Canary Islands Cruise from Feb.
17-March 1; and a Cruise of the
Panama Canal aboard the S.S. Ocean
Breeze from April 25-May 2.

informational meeting will be 3 p.m.

Canal Cruise; 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5,

library at the Kahn building.

JARC Plans
Fund-Raiser

The Orchard Lake Kroger will partner
with JARC-Jewish Association for
'Residential Care on behalf of JARC's
annual fall fund-raiser.
During the week of Oct. 26-Nov. 1,
the Orchard Lake Kroger store will
donate $5 of every customer's purchase Of
of $50 or more to help JARC provide
homes and services to local individuals
with developmental disabilities.
Throughout that week, each cus-
tomer with a Kroger purchase of $50
or more will automatically earn one
$5 JARC donation certificate at the
Orchard Lake Kroger check lanes.
Patrons must simply collect this cer- 4,
tificate and deposit it in the JARC col-
lection box near the main•exit.
Founded 30 years ago, JARC is a
non-profit, non-sectarian organization
operating 16 group homes located in
eight different communities through-
out Oakland County. JARC provides
individualized support to enable 50
men and women with developmental
disabilities to live independently and
now provides support services to chil-
dren with disabilities and their fami-
lies. Nearly 90 percent of JARC's
expenses are used for program services.
