Cheryl is a

Schanes
member of the
UJA Young
Leadership Cabinet where she sup-
ports and develops programs and
activities for the benefit of the Detroit
Jewish community as well as Israel.
She serves as the vice president for the
Women's Department of the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit.
Steve is active with Young
Leadership, serving as regional cabinet
chair. He is a member of the
Federation's Board of Governors,
serves on the executive committees of
JARC and BBYO and the board of
Yad Ezra. He is regional chair of the
B'nai B'rith Center for Jewish Identity
and is a past recipient of Federation's
Frank A. Wetsman Leadership Award.

Class Schedule
Is Expanding

Eilu v' Eilu, the metro-wide adult
Jewish learning partnership is extending
its current schedule of summer conver-
sational Hebrew classes through the end
of August. Tuition will be prorated
according to the number of sessions
attended.
Beginner Conversational Hebrew
meets 7:30-9:30 p.m. Monday nights.
Basic familiarity with the Hebrew
alphabet is a prerequisite for this class.
Tuition for each two-hour session is $15
for Eilu v' Eilu members and $18 for
others.
An intensive Intermediate
Conversational Hebrew Seminar will
meet 7:30-9:30 p.m. Thursday nights.
Tuition for each two-hour seminar is
$20 for Eilu Eilu members; $25 for
others.

Heroines
In History

"Beyond Miriam, Deborah and Ruth:
Later Jewish Heroines" will be the topic
of discussion noon Tuesday, Aug. 18,
when Rabbi Sheila Goloboy will be the
guest lecturer at the luncheon of the
Beth Elders of Temple Beth El. The
luncheon is open to the community.
Cost of the event is $8 for members
and $9 for guests.
Temple Beth El's newest rabbi, Rabbi
Goloboy is a graduate of Tufts
University. Ordained in 1997 from
Hebrew Union College Jewish Institute
of Religion in Cincinnati, Rabbi
Goloboy served a chaplain residency at
Children's Hospital Medical Center in
Cincinnati the following year.

Bereavement Group

The next session of the bereavement
group hosted by Hebrew Memorial
Chapel will begin 7:15 p.m.
