Margot J. Parr, executive director of
Jewish Home and Aging Services
(JHAS), has been named to receive
the 11th annual
Berman Award for
Outstanding
Professional
Service. She will
be presented with
the award at the
Aug. 25 meeting
of the Jewish
Federation Board
of Governors.

Created by
Mandell and Madeleine Berman, the
award goes to a Jewish communal pro-
fessional employed by the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit or
one of its constituent agencies. The
award is intended to promote and
reward extraordinary professional ser-
vice.
Prior to coming to JHAS, Mrs. Parr
was a consultant on long-term care,
was director of operations for Mercy
Services for Aging, administrator for
Health Care and Retirement Corp.
and senior administrator of Manor
Health Care Inc. She is a certified
member of the American College of
Health Care Administrators
(ACHCA) and is a licensed nursing
home administrator.
Her professional affiliations include
the Commission on Jewish Eldercare
Services (COJES), ACHCA,
Association of Jewish Aging Services,
American Association of Homes and
Services for the Aging and Michigan
Association of Homes and Services for
the Aging.

Staff Changes
The Jewish Federation of
Metropolitan Detroit announces
recent staff changes:
Andrew Echt, a recent University of
Michigan Project StaR graduate, has
joined Federation as an associate in
the Campaign department.
Lisa Freiman, also a Project StaR
graduate, has been named a staff asso-
ciate in the Women's Campaign and
Education Department.
Helen Katz, senior financial
resource development associate, has
been named a senior Campaign associ-
ate.
Neil Kleid has joined Federation'f
Marketing and Communications
Department as traffic manager.
Tanya Mazor-Posner has been pro-
moted from Campaign associate to the
position of senior community devel-
opment associate and will have duties
in the CORE (Community Outreach
and Education), Planning and Agency
Relations and Campaign
Departments.

The business meetings of the Gamma
Kappa Chi Fraternity Alumni will be

Hosts Freshmen
EMU Hillel will hold an informal C \
gathering for EMU incoming fresh-
men 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 11, at
Lonestar Coffee Co., 207 S.
Woodward, Birmingham. Students
will get a chance to meet current
Jewish students at EMU as well as fac-
ulty.

Lunch, Learn
Session Set
Jewish Federation Women's Campaign
and Education Department will have a
Rekindling Shabbat lunch and learn
session noon Monday, Sept. 14, at the
Max M. Fisher Federation Building. C
Journalist Debra Nussbaum Cohen
will be the guest speaker. Cohen writes
about issues of Jewish identity for the
Jewish Telegraphic Agency, the inter-
national Jewish wire service. She also
won a grant from the Lilly
Endowment to investigate how
women in the ministry and rabbinate
are revolutionizing spiritual leadership.

invited. There is a $10 charge for the
luncheon and presentation. Dietary
