Volunteers
Aid Food Bank
Registration is being taken for the
Jewish Federation's Volunteer Net-
work event 9:15 a.m.-1 p.m.
Wednesday, June 3. Volunteers are
being recruited to help prepare food
for the Food Bank of Oakland
County.
Interested women and men will
meet at the Max M. Fisher Federa-
tion Building and proceed by carpool
to the Cannery in Farmington Hills,
where they will pack soup, fruit and
vegetables for use at the food bank.
The event is sponsored by Federa-
tion's Volunteer Network in coopera-
tion with the Women's Campaign
and Education Department.

Metro Hillel
Plans Programs
Hillel of Metro Detroit is planning
programs for college students and
young adults for this summer. Any-
one interested in helping to plan, call

The 1998 Schusterman Hillel
International Leaders Assembly will
be held Aug. 25-30, at Camp
Moshava in Honesdale, Pa. Students
from any of the HMD campuses
including EMU are eligible to
attend. Scholarships are available;
registration deadline is Aug. 1. For

Adat Shalom
Holds Tikkun
Adat Shalom Synagogue will hold its
annual Tikkun Leil Shavuot 10 p.m.
to 1 a.m. Saturday, May 30, at the
home of Rabbi Efry Spectre.
Participants will hear from Rabbi
Spectre, who will discuss "The
Meaning of Shavuot;" Rabbi Nevins,
who will offer "Midrashim About
Jerusalem"; Dr. Marc Smiley and
Aviva Silverman, who will lead a dis-
cussion related to the holiday; and
Jeremy Fogel, who will examine sev-
eral issues pertaining to why the
Book Of Ruth is read on Shavuot.
Refreshments will be served. The
