the memory of Joan Rodecker, who
gave so much loyal work and devotion

Music by the Mel Ball Quartet was
a choice topping.
AT THE KEYBOARD in Beau
Jack's bar lounge, W. Maple and Tele-
graph, popular Wilbert Peagler may at
times lull folks into quiet relaxation ...
But it's what many listeners want as he
plays a quality mixture of melodies.
Wilbert's repertoire goes from popu-
lar songs to show biz and movie tunes,
like "Dancing Cheek To Cheek," and
oldies the likes of "Pennies From Heav-
en" and "I Remember April."
He had been a favorite standby with
his trio at numerous northwest Detroit
area spots (Restaurant Duglass,
Appeteaser, Country Epicure, etc.) ...
Folks also may have heard Wilbert at
Baker's Keyboard Lounge or Morel's.
Wilbert solos at the Beau Jack's
piano Wednesdays through Saturday
evenings, 7 p.m. to midnight.
QUITE A COMPLIMENT ... "I
hope the Beach Boys are as good as
them."
It was one of the guests talking at
the Bloomfield Hills home of Tim
Leuliette, Penske Corporation presi-
dent and COO, and wife Cindy,
where a large throng were taken back
in years at the Karmanos Cancer pre-
gala hosted by this fine couple.
While movin' to the rhythm, the gal
kept saying, "Aren't they great?" ... talk-
ing about the Leuliettes favorite local
group, Street Corner, a five-man aggre-
gation who, with another manning the
Leuliettes' sound board in their minia-
ture night club, belted out a lot of excel-
lent '50s and '60s rock and roll vocals.
The Beach Boys will headline the
Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Insti-
tute's 16th annual dinner, with the
Leuliettes as honorary chairs.
It'll be held tomorrow night, May
9, at the Chrysler Corporation assem-
bly plant in Detroit that is home to
the Dodge Viper and Plymouth
Prowler.
Food at the pre-gala was every-
where ... Salad at "Hollywood's Brown
Derby" replica, hamburgers and
shakes at the McDonald's chain's first
restaurant, in California ... Turkey,
meatloaf, mashed potatoes, peas, at a
University of Michigan simulated
cafeteria ... Outside by the pool were
heaps of shrimp and lobster tail.
All this food and Marty Kellman
wanted to know where he could get
one of the hot dogs that he saw being
passed around ... Catering was by Tom
oost-
and Diane Schoenith and their Roost-
