They're called Golden Earrings and
in February will be at Zora and Sam
Popadic's very good Hungarian restau-
rant two years ... Zora and Sam saw
the gents in Hungary, sponsored
them, and brought the two here ...
They are presently on a working visa
and contract with Blue Danube.
The Hungarian dishes are also
about as close as you can get to
authenticity.
NO WONDER so many of-the
people who work for Whole Foods
Market always have a smile on their
faces.
The company that took over the
Merchant of Vino chain has been list-
ed No. 34 in Fortune magazine's list of
"The One Hundred Best Companies
to Work For In America."
Whole Foods Market, based in
Austin, Texas, has about 80 stores,
including five in southeastern Michi-
gan, and is the nation's largest retailer
of natural and organic foods, with
over 10,000 employees.
Takeover of the Merchant of Vino
chain includes all six stores (Rochester
Hills, Troy, Farmington Hills and Ann
Arbor, plus two specialty wine and
gourmet food shops in Birmingham
and Troy) ... A second Whole Foods
Market is under development in Ann
Arbor, where it opened a first one in
1993.
CONGRATS ... to Michelle and
Bryan Feldman .... on their fourth
anniversary ... celebrated with a sec-
ond honeymoon in Niagara Falls.
FOLKS ARE talking about a Russ-
ian restaurant they've been to in Riv-
iera Beach, Fla. ... It's called Tradition,
at 237 E. Blue Heron Blvd. ... owned
by Simon Feldman.
Back in 1994, New York Governor
Mario Cuomo sent him congratula-
tions on winning the New York Asso-
ciation for New Americans' Emigre
Entrepreneur Award.
Simon's authentic Russian dishes
and presentation are receiving much
note by localites from hereabouts who
are visiting the Riviera Beach area ...
And those who now reside in that sec-
tor of Florida.
FORMER SOUTHFIELD Coun-
cilwoman Suzanne Goldstein isn't just
running for the Oakland County post
left vacant by the passing of Larry Per-
nick, but is also an avid outdoor run-
ner in rain, shine, snow, ice, etc.
She's safer when running ... as evi-
denced when recently taking her three
grandchildren to Congregation Beth
Abraham Hillel Moses' family weekend
at Butzel Center (Camp Tamarack).
